1. They always want to hear about your life drama.

If you have been in a relationship for as long as I have, you know that it is hard not to tell your partner something. Juicy gossip at work? Calling my boyfriend. Mom upsets you? Calling my boyfriend. Friends going out and did not invite you? Let me call my boyfriend. Your partner is your sidekick and they love hearing about all the drama going on especially when it is not about them. When I say I won't tell anyone I don't mean that I won't tell my boyfriend.

2. It is okay to be an individual.

You do not have to do everything with your partner. In fact, you probably do not want to do everything with your partner. Being in a long term relationship has made me realize that being an individual is a necessity.

3. You have your whole life planned out together.

Pinterest is one of the best friends of someone who is in a long term relationship. Wedding boards and children's room/clothes boards are not only fun but they make the relationship feel like there is infinite possibilities in the relationship and that feels amazing.

4. They know things about your life that no one else knows.

They know your quirks and your bad habits. They know what makes you tick and that is kind of an amazing thing when you think about it. Having someone know everything about you is so nice because you never have to worry about being misunderstood in a relationship.

5. There are unspoken rules in the relationship that you both follow no matter how silly they seem.

You know exactly what your partner is okay with and not okay with. You know each others pet peeves and it makes you stronger in the end.

6. You love everything that makes them unique.

When you are in a long term relationship, you come to realize that you are not going to love everything about your partner. You could dislike the way they sleep or how they talk when ordering at a drive thru or in my case how my boyfriend eats his chicken wings...but, in the end you love everything that makes them who they are and you would not want to change them for the world.

7. Your partner's interests soon become your interests.

8. Not talking your partner every minute of everyday isn't as big of a deal as it used to be

When you start dating someone, you want to talk to them every minute of everyday and you want to keep them updated on your day. As your relationship goes on it becomes less important to talk to your partner constantly and if you are anything like me who hates texting all the time....that is amazing.

9. Communication is key.

In any relationship long term or short term communication is so important. It is extra key in a long term relationship though. After being in a relationship for a while, everything starts to fall into a kind of groove. Communication is important because without it that relationship may end up going down a path that you is not how you envision and that can lead to problems.

10. You love each other unconditionally.

No matter what happens you have each others backs and you love each other no matter how hard it gets. Being in a long term relationship is something to cherish.
