Dating a firefighter is not like dating a normal guy at all. Fireman are the craziest, most kind-hearted people you will ever meet, and you're extremely lucky if you can call one yours. With that being said, it isn't always easy being a firefighter's girl, but it is always worth it.

1. His pager will never leave his side... like, ever.

He may forget a lot of things, but taking his pager with him anywhere he goes is not one of them. It may be obnoxious at times, but it's his life line, so you get used to it fairly quickly.

2. The station is his life.

He will spend every possible second he can at the station. It's his home away from home.

3. If he is on call, expect your plans to get interrupted or canceled.

This will happen ALL the time. It can be frustrating at times, but remember most of the time he's saving lives and running into burning buildings. So just give him a quick kiss and let him run out the door.

4. If he tells you he'll be safe, he is probably lying to you.

He's running into burning buildings. That's the opposite of safe. He puts himself in extraordinary danger day in and day out, and that'll never change. But that won't stop him from trying to ease your mind.

5. Despite your best efforts, you will worry about him.

You may try and avoid thinking about how dangerous his job is, but you are fully aware of the dangers. When you know he's at a bad fire or haven't heard from him in hours, the panic will start to set in. This doesn't make you crazy, it makes you human. But don't expect people who don't have firefighters in their lives to understand this feeling, because they won't.

6. He won't always have much time to spend with you.

Every day is different. Every week is different. Sometimes you will see him all the time, and other times you'll feel like you never see him. Try to be patient. He is doing his best.

7. He will wear his station shirt/sweatshirt at least 5 days a week.

You might think I'm kidding, but just wait. It'll shock you if you see him in something not station-related.

8. Whenever you see a fire station, you'll look at and think of him.

This happens every time without fail. It will most likely brighten up your day and make you smile. And, if it's a particularly nice station, you'll probably text him about it.

9. You will react differently when you watch TV shows and movies about firefighters.

I don't suggest watching Ladder 49 ever again. Your heart will shatter into a million pieces. Some TV shows and movies will be bearable to watch, but you will cringe at certain scenes and most likely will be freaked out next time he goes out on a call.

10. You will become obsessed with the sound of a scanner.

Okay, maybe that is just me. But you will get so used to it that it will start sounding like background noise. And when it wakes you up in the middle of the night, you won't even flinch.

11. If you see him right before he goes to the station, you'll hug him a little tighter and kiss him a little longer.

You are fully aware that this could be the day he dies saving someone else.

12. You will hear some wild stories.

Some of these stories will make you laugh and others will make you cringe with fear. But you will want to hear every single one regardless.

13. You will be more afraid of him getting injured or killed on the job than he is.

This is the thing in the world he loves doing the most. I guarantee you he is hoping for a huge fire to happen so he can go on that call. He'd rather get injured or killed doing what he loves than any other way.

14. You will always be extremely proud of him.

While people are running out of burning houses and buildings, he is running in. He saves, and changes, peoples lives. He is there in the worst times of people's lives, and he is the one they turn to for safety. It makes you feel really proud to have someone so selfless in your life.

15. He will always protect you.

"He risks his life for people he doesn't even know, imagine what he would do for me."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
