When I entered my first year in college, the last thing I wanted was a relationship. Now during my last year I can't even imagine, or even remember, going through it without being in one.
A lot of young people get a hard time for dating in college, specifically women with people assuming that is the sole reason for them even wanting higher education. Or people even get judged for settling down young instead of embracing the fun, single lifestyle that is so often glorified in universities.
Dating is not a handicap, nor is it something that you should be ashamed of. Dating in college is one of the most unique and enriching experiences you can have in your life, and do you know why?
1. They picked the same school as you have so chances are they are looking for the same things you are looking for in life.
2. Always having a date to the caf
3. And therefore, always having a late night food run buddy
4. Your relationship is so strong, you two are the ultimate beer pong team
5. They are you around them all the time so they learn all the little quirks about you, like how you take your coffee
6. You always have a study buddy in the library (and they usually have snacks)
7. And therefore, having a source of comic relief when a mental breakdown occurs during that study break
8. Having not one, but TWO beds on campus you could possibly nap in
9. They've seen you with or without makeup and actually prefer the natural you.
10. They are certain to live at least ten minutes away from you for easy access
11.Having someone who is just a text away from picking up emergency tampons or Theraflu
12. Always having a date to sorority functions
13. And always having a date that would actually make sure you get home safely from said sorority functions and with little to no vomit on you as possible
14. Having someone who will be with you through every bad hangover (again, from said functions)
15. Always having someone to explore new breweries and coffee shops with that pop up on your Facebook feed
16. Having someone who will not only understand, but is willing to participate, when you are PMSing and all you want to do is stay in your dorm all day and binge watch Netflix
17. Having your first taste of a serious, adult relationship
18. And learning what it means to be a good supporting partner
19. Being able to see them every day, whether it be just for 5 minutes in the quad
20. Having someone who will without fail text you every time they see cute dog on campus
21. Having someone to post a pic of when you just want an excuse to use Ed Sheeran lyrics as a caption
22. You have someone who is your biggest motivator and biggest cheerleader
23. Their friends eventually become your friends
24 Always having someone who will lovingly point out you have green stuff in your teeth before you leave the caf
25. Having someone as an excuse to do all the corny, touristy stuff around your college's town with
26. Having someone who will always remind you to do your calculous homework before you go to bed (and will not quit annoying you until you actaully do it)
27. And finally, having someone who will live life with you no matter how crazy college gets.
