I think we can all agree how much of a mess our dating culture has become. The expectations of romance have been lost in translation during the change of generations. How do we bring that back? Observe the relationships that made it and take notes from them.

Let's bring back the romance with a little bit of old school.

1. Night Out Dancing

2. Cooking together

3. Having a date night

Imagine there is a day every week where you get the chance to go out with your significant other and have a good time. Even if it isn't every week, you still plan out days during the month to keep the romance up and spark going.

4. Going on picnics

5. Venturing new places

Those random towns you end up and discover a small diner that you fall in love with and begin to go every once in a while. Traveling to different towns and even different countries brings excitement to the relationship.

7. Saving Money For Trips

Want to plan a big trip? Saving up more for the trip will also add value to the effort you're putting in to get something you both want.

8. Spontaneity

Remember when your dad would come home from work and surprise your mom with a bouquet of flowers?

Trying to keep certain things the same as time progresses so that no matter the time, there is still something familiar that reminds you of home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
