We all have days when struggles and troubles of life seem to be far more than we can handle. Maybe you're going through a breakup, or you just simply feel inferior and worthless. In that moment, it can seem nearly impossible to carry on. With the growing number of suicides due to a higher degree of stress experienced, we need to remember to take care of ourselves.

1. Start a journal

Take a moment to sit down and write out all of your thoughts; the good, the bad, and the ugly. Remind yourself that absolutely no one is perfect and everyone is facing their own troubles. Take the time to think of 3 daily positives. I know that sometimes that feels impossible, so just think a little harder. If nothing else, the sun rose, you are breathing, and you have people who genuinely care about you.

You have the freedom to write about what you did that day, or what is bothering you, or your goals. A journal is your place to be 110% you. You have no one to impress with your journal, so lay everything out there. I promise you will feel better.

2. Take a walk

Regardless of the weather, a bit of fresh air can do no harm. While your walks may be a bit shorter depending on the weather, it gives you a chance to free your mind. Instead of thinking about the things that are bothering you, imagine a story for the family in each car that passes.

Every person in every car that drives by has their own story. It blows my mind every time I think about it. Our problems are insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

3. Shower

There is nothing that can't be solved with a nice long, shower. Literally, wash all of the negativity down the drain. Take time to take care of yourself and make sure that you and your thoughts are clean and ready to take on the rest of the day.

4. Listen to your favorite song

Put on your favorite song or playlist and just think about what they are saying. Whether or not you've realized it before, there's probably a reason that specific song is your favorite. Chances are, you relate to something in the lyrics or the instruments chiming in behind the singer sound just write in your ear.

Appreciate the songs that you've labeled as your favorite and let yourself enjoy every aspect of the composition. Take the motivation and the energy that you felt listening to that song and let it carry you on.

5. Talk to a Friend

I know you may feel like no one cares to listen to your problems, but I guarantee that the opposite could not be more true. All you have to do is look around you. People are far more willing to help that you expect. There are so many people who care about you whether they be, your friends, your family, or just a girl writing an article. Reach out to someone and tell them what is bothering you. If no one else, reach out to me, and I would love to talk with you.

Life can be hard, so take care of yourself. Don't get mad at yourself over silly mistakes and remember that you are always your top priority.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
