When you think of Valentine’s Day you tend to think of sappy lovers and chocolates.

The thought of this tends to make many teenagers cringe, especially if they have nobody to share the day with. There are so many other things to do with your holiday other than make your life miserable by scrolling through all the cute couple pictures and wishing you were them. Being single is not a bad thing, so embrace it while you can. You can take the time to learn a whole lot about yourself.

Instead of wasting away the holiday, here are some other things that you can do with your day, if you don’t have a special date, with a special someone.

1. Take a friend on a date

If you have a friend that has no plans, you could both go together to your favorite nice restaurant.

2. Go out and celebrate being single

Being single is NOT a bad thing!! Go out and have fun with all of the other single people.

3. Shop 'til you drop

Go out and buy yourself a Valentine's Day gift. Many say that "money doesn't buy happiness", but retail therapy always makes me feel very happy... Until I see my bank account.

4. Watch movies

You can binge watch all of your favorite movies, and enjoy every second of it.

5. Hang out with your parents

Being around your parents tends to fill the emptiness you can sometimes feel when you are alone.

6. Pamper yourself

Go out and get a mani/pedi, get your hair done, or get a tan. This ALWAYS makes you feel put together and like your best self.

7. Cook yourself a 5 star dinner

Just because you don't have someone to cook you a dinner, doesn't mean that you can't be independent and make yourself one! Plus, you won't have to share.

8. Treat it like any ordinary day

Just because it is Valentine's Day doesn't mean that you have to acknowledge it. Treat it like a regular day filled with work, school, or laying around being lazy.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
