If you're anything like me, you fall pretty deep pretty fast when you start crushing on someone. It goes from a casual "Wow he's pretty cute" to a full-on planning of our wedding in like three days. There's nothing I love more than these first few days of realizing you have a crush on someone, though, because not only are they the most action-packed, but they also give you the opportunity to really get to know the person the best. Honestly, the beginning of a crush is the best, hands down.

1. It adds some newfound excitement to your life.

One day, your life is just dull thanks to the routine of your day-to-day. The next, you find yourself completely head-over-heels for Jake from your history class. Having this new crush spices things up and makes your life much more interesting.

2. You find yourself falling farther and farther thanks to the smallest things.

They asked you how your day was? They asked to borrow a pencil? Little stuff will send a million butterflies through your heart and it's so cute. Later on down the road, you're not going to feel this way about this person at all, so you better hold close to the butterflies while you can.

3. You always have something to tell your friends about.

Your group chats are going to appreciate your new-found love because it will cause the conversation to be popping. I know my friends are really grateful for my latest crush because it gets them the opportunity to live through me and my attempts at getting this guy on my side. Your weekly coffee date catch-up sessions with your best friend are going to be poppin' now.

4. The doubts haven't hit you yet.

I tend to get the doubts about my crushes about two weeks in, so I enjoy that sweet spot of the beginning while I can. When you begin falling for someone, you don't really think about the likelihood of them actually being interested in you or the fact that they're best friend totally hates you. You just know you like them and that's it. Things are pretty simple and pretty great.

5. You get to social media stalk the heck out of them with no shame.

If you say you don't Facebook stalk people you're lying, especially when it comes to new crushes. You'll find yourself looking at all their awkward family Christmas photos and goofy middle school selfies. You'll also be super pissed when you find out he has a private Instagram and you can't stalk in peace.

6. You go out of your way to look good whenever he's around.

Look good, feel good, right ladies? Going the extra mile to ensure your outfits are on point and your hair doesn't look like complete garbage may mean that you're loosing out on that extra twenty minutes of sleep, but you'll also be a lot more confident.

7. You're constantly feeling like you're on cloud nine.

Listen, crushes make even the most straight-laced person giddy, especially at first! You'll feel like you're in middle school again regardless of how old you are and it's one of the purest feelings around.

8. You have a reason to cut off all the other guys, especially the shitty ones.

Goodbye, shitty guy from your chem class who only texts you at 2 a.m. when he's drunk and wants to hook up. So long, random dude from Tinder who has strung you along for months. Now that you have this new crush, you have the perfect opportunity to cut off the guys who don't deserve to be in your life anyways. Here's to happiness and a lot less stress!

9. Everything is innocent.

Whenever I develop a new crush, I'm always quick to say that I feel like I'm in middle school again. It's that child-like innocence that you can't really find anywhere else that makes the beginning of a crush so special.

10. A new crush is a fun distraction.

Typically, the first few days of a crush are pretty intense, so you're easily distracted. Sometimes we get so caught up in the busyness and stress of our lives that we need this kind of carefree, fun distraction to help us let loose and enjoy life a bit more.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
