Yes, My Boyfriend Is My Best Friend, Don't Shame Me For That

Even though I have had other best friends, the one that knows me the most is my beloved.

I usually get weird looks when I tell people that my boyfriend is my best friend. After I say that it is usually followed with, "But you do have other best friends right?" And I do, I have my best girlfriends and I love them to death. But my boyfriend has been my ride or die since 2009 (Lol wow, that sort of rhymed). In all seriousness, my boyfriend has been someone that is not family, that I can trust for almost ten years. Even though I have had plenty of people tell me that my boyfriend might break up with someday, that hasn't been the case. I'm known as the girl with the best friends that leave her.

Unfortunately, I have had plenty of "best friends" that have come and go, but my boyfriend has always been there for me. I remember being teased by a classmate when I explained that my boyfriend was my best friend and that if I had something to negative to say about him, I would literally just tell him. Usually, girls have girlfriends that they can go and talk about their relationship troubles to and that is totally fine, I am always here for my friends if they are going through something.

But since the beginning of our friendship then turned relationship, my boyfriend and I have always had an open communication policy. We decided that we should be able to share whatever we're feeling with each other and I absolutely love that. Who else can I trust with my feelings other than my boyfriend? He's the only one that actually knows me and my secrets. Even though I have had other best friends, the one that knows me the most is my beloved. He knows every little thing about me and he accepts me the way I am. He also knows my whole family and has actually spent time with them. He basically knows the families secrets, and that's okay because I trust him with that type of information.

I know that with him I will not be judged or made fun of. I can tell him my dreams, aspirations, and inspirations without him running off and laughing about them with other people. He is someone I trust with my whole life and being. I have had former friends that would legit tell people my stuff and they would just laugh, as silly as this may be for some, this is something I told in confidence and they betrayed me. I know my boyfriend won't probably betray me.

I am just honestly so grateful that I have found my love at a young age and that he is someone I can trust. Because if your boyfriend isn't someone you can trust, then he shouldn't be your boyfriend at all. Trust is obviously a very important component in a relationship.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
