People Have Forgotten How To Love And Be Loved, And It's A Heartbreaking Way For Us To Live

I think I can speak for all young adults when I say we struggle hard with figuring everything out. We overthink day in and day out about what we are called to be and what we are called to do. At least I do.

I think we have all forgotten a truly vital part of life, and that's to love and to be loved.

In a world where things are disposable, where we look for the next best thing over and over, where we constantly are looking at things we desire, we have forgotten to love others. We are so obsessed with what we want to achieve. We are so in the dog eat dog mindset that we forget we are really called to love one another. We live in a more and more individualized world where people are only looking out for number one, but I honestly think this is toxic to who we are as humans.

There's a Bible verse that has always resonated with me because my mom had it all over the house while I was growing up. I know a lot of people are probably going to roll their eyes at this one, but it's 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails."

No matter if you're a religious person or not, I think we are called to love each other.

Even if we didn't grow up in the same neighborhood, drive the same car, have the same hairstyle, if someone is LBGTQ, if someone doesn't have the same political views as you do, and if someone doesn't believe in what you believe in. We are called to show love to people, and I think we are forgetting that now.

When we struggle we want to be loved and to be shown love... So why don't we show love? If we desperately yearn for it in times of need, shouldn't we be showing it when we don't "need" it?

We need to show others they matter, that no matter how heartbreaking their situation is they are still immeasurably loved.

We need to lend a hand to people who are struggling whether we can see it or not. We need to start meeting people where they are because THAT is what we are called to do, ladies and gentlemen.

I think maybe we need to spend a little less time thinking about number one and a little more time thinking about people around us who need our help or, in other words, our love. In order to help heal our world of the heartbreak we continuously see, we must be willing to love others. There are so many people who are heartbroken in the world, and we have to meet them where they are and love them.

Otherwise, where did our humanity go?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
