We’ve all been there, crushing on someone we know we can’t have. Somehow, it seems getting over crushes is harder than moving on from actual relationships because (usually) the other party doesn’t know you exist, which makes you want to die inside. Do they know I exist? Did they text me back? What are they doing now? Here are some ways to cure yourself of "the feels."

1. Create distance

It's hard to get over someone when you're constantly hanging out with them. Find the right balance of distance between you and them for your own good.

2. Do you

Find something you love to do and don't give up on that. Some people are temporary, but hobbies and your interests are (hopefully) something you can always count on.

3. Talk it out

Talking about it may be the best way to get over your crush. Don't bottle your feelings up and leave them sitting in the cupboard. It won't do any good.

4. Distract yourself

Find a new person to pass the time with. Date someone else. Learn yoga. Anything that will distract you from thinking about your crush.

5. Unfollow them

Stop torturing yourself by looking at their social media accounts and obsessing over how you're not there with them. Instead, take care of yourself and delete, delete, delete them!

6. Keep it real

When we really like someone, we tend to focus all too much on the positives about them and idolize them in a way that is out of touch with reality. See things the way they are.

7. Know it's temporary and you're not alone

No matter how much you are hurting, this is most likely just a phase and it will eventually fade away. Also, know you're not alone in this process.

8. Know your worth

When we're getting over a crush, one thing our friends always remind us is "It's THEIR loss." Which is true! This person is not the only person in the world. YOU, however, are the only you.

9. Make a list

When all else fails, make a bullet list of things you dislike about your crush. Don't be a Ross, though, and let it slip into the hands of them.

10. Take it one day at a time

No one is perfect. And when you start catching the feels for someone, the best thing to do is take it day by day. Don't rush anything or be impatient. Take it hour by hour, even.

So basically, deciding to stop liking someone is tough. Even though you may feel lame for being so bummed out, you shouldn't. Don't worry, there's nothing ice cream can't cure!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
