You would never admit it, but you are running away from love. Deep down, pain from the past, trauma, fears, doubts, and worries have converged to form walls around your heart.

The truth is, you're scared.

You're scared to let someone in because you don't want to get hurt again. You're scared to let that someone in because you know you would fall in love with them, but you don't trust your feelings anymore.

Besides, you've always been independent. There's no need to 'do life' with someone else because you're already succeeding on your own. You don't need anyone to affirm your opinions or support your dreams... it might be nice, but it's definitely not necessary.

Excuses, excuses. At the end of the day your excuses will run out and you won't have any stamina left to run anymore.

And that's okay.

Falling in love is not the end of the world.

It doesn't mean you have to surrender yourself for another. In fact, it's the opposite. It's sharing your world with another. It's okay to let yourself be loved. There's no doubt that love is a whirlwind of emotions, but love it what makes you feel the most alive you've ever felt.

And while it might be a little scary to put your trust in your partner and be vulnerable with them, do not worry because that will come with time. There's no need to jump the gun and invite your significant other to understand your entire life right away, but you can relax and get to know each other in your own timing.

Don't let past heartbreak stop you from experiencing new love.

It is gone! It is behind you! Step into new life today. There wouldn't be any real love in the world if people let their fears, anxieties, or doubts in life control them. It may be easy to be consumed by the 'what ifs' in life, but I promise you that not everyone who steps into your life is there to take advantage of you, manipulate you, or intentionally hurt you.

By building walls around your heart, yes you may keep out the "bad," but you also keep out the good.

Walls may protect you from the potential of rejection and pain, but they also prevent you from experiencing life-giving relationships. Do not lose hope in sincere, genuine, kind-hearted and good willed people. There are still good people in this world and you will find your perfect match in the right timing. You can stop hiding behind the fear of your past because the right person will love you FOR YOU.

Trust me, you are too uniquely beautiful, wonderful, inspiring, creative, and intelligent to not shine your light to the world! Let others in. By closing yourself off to the world, you are losing out on a really great opportunity to get to see the beauty in other humans and experience their talents and gifts.

At the end of the day, if someone is earnestly pursuing you because they are eager to get to know you better, don't shut them down right away because of your own insecurities. It just goes to show that you've lost faith in ever finding love again... or even finding it all. By all means practice discernment, but it is worth it to open your heart to the possibility of meeting your future lover.

Free yourself from the walls, barriers, and borders you've put up around your soul. Don't let yourself miss out on one of the amazing wonders of this world: love.

Life is more fun when you have someone to share it with.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
