You're An Idiot If You Think I Can't Be A Feminist And Date A Man

"Shouldn't you be a lesbian if you hate men so much?"

If I had a dollar for every time I have been told: "If you hate men so much, shouldn't you be a lesbian?" I would have enough money to educate you idiots. I don't know where the idea came from that you can't be a feminist and date a man, but it's stupid.

Feminism isn't hating men. We don't say "men are trash" because we hate them all entirely, we say that to bring light to many issues, such as structural oppression, the effects of the patriarchy on both men and women, catcalling, sexual assault, and so on. We say that to bring attention to what the narrative is and in a sense encourage men to work to change it.

So how the hell does that affect my love life? It doesn't. I am attracted to men, I love dating and being with them. I have a boyfriend. My boyfriend and I agree politically, so even he understands and supports me when I say those three little words that piss off so many online. Obviously, I don't hate all men, and if you think that's what feminists mean when they say "men are trash," again, you've missed the point.

I won't even begin to dive into the sheer ignorance of the people who say I should be a lesbian if I "hate men so much," because that just means you're stupid and don't understand sexuality, too.

Taking a stand for women doesn't mean I can't be happily involved in a relationship. I can, and I am. Hell, I've never been happier. So you can keep your little jokes and jabs at feminism to yourself because the movement is growing and only picking up speed. You're just a tiny little bump in the road on our radar.

I'm sure the fact that there are male feminists and allies hurts your brain too much to think about, so I'll just leave you with that.

If you think I'm going to be upset or bothered with your sad attempts to poke fun at my feminist beliefs by trying to criticize who I'm attracted to, you've thought wrong. Anyone who actually takes the time to be educated understands the true meaning behind the catchphrase, and if you'd rather be stuck in your own Trump-esque style of thinking, that's your funeral.

I'm thankful for the men in my life who are incredible role models and friends, who therefore are not offended when I say "men are trash," because they understand what it means. I'm thankful for the man I love. So, thanks for your trash of an opinion, but I'm just fine with him.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
