When it comes to age differences, people get a bit awkward. It can be a very taboo subject when you tell your parents or relatives that the person you're with is a few years older-- let's make that eight years older, to be exact. Initially, it can be very uncomfortable. If you think about it though, after high school, age really doesn't matter. Age is only a number; a number of years that you've been alive. It doesn't necessarily define anything else about the person.

There are many reasons why dating an older man is wonderful.

1. He's mature.

The saying about guys maturing slower than girls is true, unfortunately. So if you're dating a guy quite a few years older than you, you'll be relatively at the same maturity level-- he may even be higher than you a this point!

2. He knows what he wants.

Being older, you generally are more aware of exactly what you want in life. You're looking for someone to spend your life with. He's not looking simply for some fun times and then going to continue on about his business. He's been around a while and he knows what he wants in the relationship.

3. He is wise.

Having more life experience has increased his wisdom. When difficulties arise, he knows exactly how to handle them. He's not irrational about problems-- he calmly thinks them through and helps you work together to solve them.

4. He teaches you about life.

He has already been through many different obstacles and overcome them, he's also made mistakes and learned from them. He gives you advice that you didn't know you needed that makes you reconsider how you deal with your own difficult situations.

5. He also teaches you about trends in his age group.

He knows a variety of music, movies and books that you may not have known. He's also open to learning about what you're into-- you basically introduce one another to new areas of pop culture.

6. He knows how to take you out.

He picks you up, opens your car door (and all the other doors), and treats you to a special evening. He plans and doesn't just leave it up to you all the time.

7. He is responsible.

He has a plan for life. He has a career, home, car, finances-- many responsibilities under his belt. He does what he does not because it's what other's expect but because he expects it of himself. He washes dishes and vacuums and takes out the trash because he is running his own home.

8. He knows how to have fun.

He knows how to have a good time and he wants to make sure you do too. He wants to make you laugh and see you smile.

9. He makes sure you are taken care of.

He knows you can take care of yourself but he doesn't want you to. He wants to take care of you, genuinely. He wants to buy you dinner or give you money because he knows you plan to purchase a new laptop but you don't quite have enough funds to do so. He rubs your head when it hurts or your feet when they're sore.

10. He keeps you balanced.

Sometimes, you can be a little immature or naive, he guides you. You also guide him. You surprise one another with the way he changes your views or you change his. You keep him young at heart and he allows your old soul to shine through.

11. He knows what love is.

He knows love isn't making sure he sends you a text every morning and night, letting you wear his hoodie and adding an emoji to sweet messages. He knows that love is a choice, to be there for someone, despite their imperfections. He knows that love means putting someone else's needs before your own and them doing the same in return. He knows that praying for you all the time is the most loving action to be done.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
