There are many things about me that stand out: my resting bitch face, my choice to almost always wear black, and the number of people I dislike. However, there is one thing—despite my appearance—that also stands out: my love to laugh.
I love to laugh, I mean who doesn’t? It immediately puts you in a better mood, brightens your day, and can even help you make friends.
Just a message to ALL the guys that are SO interested in me: laughter is the way to win me over.
I’m one of very few that would totally go for someone who makes me laugh and makes me happy, than someone who looks like Niall Horan—or Channing Tatum if that’s more your cup of tea—but has the personality of a piece of paper. I mean, yeah, if you’d rather have someone who’s more attractive so that way you can post “cute pics” and get all the “likes” that you need, that’s all on you.
I’ve had that mindset before, you know in those middle school days, and I find it absolutely boring. It’s one thing to be attracted to someone for their looks and another to fall for their personality.
And if someone can make me laugh I immediately find them attractive.
Laughing sends endorphins to the brain, so associating them with a specific person can easily cause you to start “catching feelings.”
Laughing isn’t all that goes into what makes me like someone; we need to have some of the same interest, treat me with respect, keep me happy, they need to be a fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels, and they need to be able to handle my attitude and sass.
Those last two are very important.
There’s a lot more that goes into a relationship and I have perfect examples around me: my mom and dad, and my sister and my brother-in-law. My dad is constantly making my mom laugh with dumb jokes or funny stories about his friends, and my sister’s husband is constantly making both her and me laugh with his many different voices.
Every relationship has its ups and downs, but love and laughter are what helps keep it together.
So, you can date your male model who has the personality of a piece of paper. I’ll stick to the guy that makes me laugh, treats me right and knows how to cheer for the Tar Heels.
