To The Man Who's About To Marry My Best Friend, I'm So Happy It's You

There's no one else I'd rather give up the "best friend" title for.

To The Man Who's About To Marry My Best Friend, I'm So Happy It's You
Whitni Duffey

You're getting ready to marry the love of your life. I'm getting ready to stand beside my best friend and watch her marry the love of her life. I don't think I've ever told you, but I'm so glad it's you.

First off, I'm so happy she found you. We've talked about stuff like this since we were little kids. We spent many nights at countless sleepovers talking about our weddings. We dreamed about the people we would end up marrying. It's crazy to think that we're finally at the point in our lives where she found the person she's going to spend the rest of her life with.

Take it from someone who has been a part of her life for a long time now — I've never seen her happier than she is when she's with you. You put a smile on her face that's bigger than any I've ever seen on her. And that makes me happy.

Secondly, she deserves the world and I have no doubt you'll give it to her. (If you don't, I WILL hunt you down).I've never met another person who loves so deeply or lights up a room as she does. Of course, I'm sure you have noticed this by now. She is so willing to put her needs after those of others and she will most definitely do this for you. Don't forget to thank her for it. She'll never ask for a thank you but those simple words will mean so much to her.

Finally, there is no one I would rather give up my "best friend" title for. I've been friends with her since we met in our elementary school classroom. We've grown up together and honestly, she's more like a sister than a friend. The day she introduced me to you, I knew it was just a matter of time. I'm so glad she found her life-long best friend in you.

All I ask is that you follow all the rules that a best friend and more importantly, a future husband, should. Keep her secrets. Make her laugh. Support her no matter what. And most importantly, be there for her through it all. We're all trusting you to take care of her. I know that you won't let us down.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
