14 Old-Fashioned Relationship Habits That Should Never Die, Even In 2018

Keep these things alive in today's century of online hooks ups and Netflix and Chill.

1. Writing each other letters.

Whether it's a long, deep letter or just a little sticky note, the meaning will always matter more than anything.

2. Going on actual date.

In a culture of 'Netflix and chill' actually get up and go somewhere new for once. Whether it's dinner or a concert, go out and have fun off the couch!

3. Meeting in real life.

When Tinder hookups are all the rage don't give up on finding real love. Wherever you are in life right now is exactly where you should be, love will find you, don't go looking for it. It will find you when you least expect it, so don't resort to apps just because you want to go on a cute fall date.

4. Spending time with each other's families.

Your S.O. having a family game night? Don't shy away just because you can't spend the night cuddling. Go over and enjoy family time with the people who may one day be your in-laws!

5. Getting her flowers.

This is one of the easiest wins in the book - just buy her flowers. You can get a bouquet at Trader Joe's for $3.99 so no excuses. It doesn't have to be red roses. It can even be a plant! Just something that shows her you care.

6. Surprising each other.

Whether it is flowers, dessert, or just coming over when they had a bad day. The little things will always show how much they mean to you.

7. Buying little and inexpensive gifts.

You don't need to drop hundreds of dollars to make each other happy. A cute Pinterest craft will always be more meaningful.

8. Spending time without technology.

Try to avoid using technology when you are together. Technology and social media already take us away from everything else in life, so why let it divide our relationships. Just enjoy each other's company and have real conversations.

9. Giving meaningful complements.

Not an emoji or a comment on Instagram, but an actual genuine complement. Trust me, it will make their world.

10. Spending time together doing nothing.

Sometimes you don't need a fancy date, heck you don't even need a movie night on the couch. Sometimes it just a car ride, or a grocery trip, or even doing homework. Its just nice to sit in each others company.

11. Committing to each other.

Start actually committing to someone. Stop it with the "we're talking" and "we have a thing". Actually commit to each other if you like each other. Real relationships with strong commitment are becoming lost in this generation so let's make sure we keep them alive.

12. Holding hands.

Whether it's in public, in the car or just sitting on the couch it's always a calming sense to have your hand intertwined with your significant other's.

13. Being respectful.

I wish I didn't have to say this but in today's day in age, it is becoming an ongoing problem. Just repeat each other's wants and needs and make sure you know their boundaries and you respect them for who they are and what they want.

14. Letting your feelings be known.

Don't keep your feelings bottled up. Whether you are in a relationship already or not, always let the other person know how you feel! If you love them, tell them!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
