A Letter To My Future Husband's Parents

At the end of the day, I owe my whole life to you because you created my whole life.

Dear In-Laws,

When two people meet and fall in love, they usually owe it to the people who set them up or the grounds for which they met. But I don't think that is the reason I will have fallen in love with your son. The reason I have fallen in love with your son, and one day want to spend the rest of my life with him, is because of you.

To his mother, you have done the most. You have stood by him while other girls have broken your son's heart and I can imagine your heart is truly breaking too. You have taught him what it means to have manners and treat a lady, which is quite rare nowadays. You taught him how to love and I cannot be more grateful for him choosing to love me. You have given him care and kindness and he now reflects these things onto his own life. You have raised the man of my dreams.

To his father, you have taught him how to be a man and to be strong, but also when it's time to be weak. Thank you for always pushing him for brighter and better things. You have taught him the persistence of hard work and also the value of a dollar. The lessons he has learned from you has shaped him into the man he is now and I cannot thank you enough. You have been a wonderful role model for your son and I hope he can do just the same for our kids one day.

At the end of the day, I owe my whole life to you because you created my whole life. Thank you for changing my life and trusting me to do the same to your son. I promise to respect him and love him just as much as he has done to me. Thank you for taking a chance on me and for hoping I would not turn out like those other girls that broke your son's heart. Thank you for allowing me to date your son and ultimately allowing me to marry him. I promise to never take your son away from you, but to take you on our journey. It is never my place to take away your little snot-covered baby boy, but I know I will always love him and always be grateful for you. Thank you.

Sincerely,

I can't wait to meet you and your son.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
