10 Things You Wouldn't Experience Without Experiencing Your Heartbreak

Imagine a world with no broken hearts, nothing left to mend.

What would happen in a world with no heartbreak? The thing that everyone dreads and yet we all experience at least once in our lives. Would we feel like we were missing something? Would we respond to things differently? Would we live in a world where our hearts mend without going through the healing process? What a sad thing it would be to live in a world where hearts never break.

Here are 10 things you wouldn't experience without heartbreak.

1. Learning how to heal

Heartbreak comes in many ways. We all overall experience heartbreak differently, therefore we all have our way of healing ourselves. If we are never put to the test or in the position to heal ourselves or others, we might not know how to heal. We would have never learned how to heal from things if no one ever experienced heartbreak. We would have just lived our lives accepting things, rather than acting upon them.

2. Valuing what you do

No matter what it is, if we don't experience heartbreak, we would not value the things we have or could have more. Losing someone, opportunities, or something we cherish overall, helps us appreciate other things more. We have to learn the value of things, and sometimes, getting your heart broken teaches us just that.

3. Sense of passion

If no one ever experienced heartbreak, then how would we be able to feel passionate about things in life. It goes back to valuing things in life. If you never lose anything or have a feeling of loss, then there may never be more value or passion in what you do. Everyone needs passion. We all need something that moves us and that we can get lost in, dedicating our time to it.

4. Learning to move on

How will we ever learn how to move on from things, if we are never challenged with doing so? Yes, there are other ways to learn how to move on, but a broken heart might be one of the rawest forms to do so. Something not working out should push you to do more. It should push you to find something more or achieve more.

5. You wouldn't know what you're missing out on

Sometimes we don't realize that we are destined for something greater because we are stuck on something that we want and not something we need. You could be letting so many great things pass you by because you're stuck instead of having what you need in your life.

6. Connection to art

Whether it be your go-to playlist that you vibe out with, the painting you feel, or the poem you can relate with; you wouldn't be able to connect with all of it if you have never experienced heartbreak. Imagine if no one ever experienced a broken heart, how much music we wouldn't have. Sometimes pain brings us the beauty.

7. A plan to a better future

Every now and then we need a wake-up call. We need something to remind us that there is a lot going on in the world constantly. We sometimes need a push to plan something better for ourselves.

8. Change

How many times have you heard that pain changes people? Probably a lot, right? Well who said that change needs to be bad, it could be just what one needs. We all need to go through changes in our lives to become better people and a heartbreak could do just that.

9. Inspiration

You could create something so beautiful with the pain you go through with a heartbreak. You could create more art to move people, could inspire others to do more or so many more things. Inspiration goes a long way and it could develop into more than you could imagine.

10. Growth

There is no book to define what can or can not cause a broken heart. No book on how to heal it. Everyone is different and has different experiences that help them become better people. You just need to be willing to take everything as a life lesson and turn it into something more. Turn yourself into more. Let yourself grow.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
