Sometimes sex happens spontaneously (depending on the context) but most of the time we know when sex will actually happen. Think about those highly craved dick appointments, the private after-party to end a special Valentine's date, the weekend you finally have your spouse all to yourself while your kids are away at camp, or the night of a long-awaited reunion with your long-distance partner. These are the nights we must take extra precaution for!
Take a look below and find out the many steps you can take to set the mood right before sex:
1. Shave or Wax
This is certainly more of cosmetic preference, but it tends to make people feel more confident about their bodies. Just make sure you give your skin enough time to heal because the friction during sex can cause irritation. However, don't feel bad if you decide not to shave. That doesn't necessarily make you unclean or less desirable. It's natural. If you're like me and hate shaving because of your sensitive skin, but don't always want the hair to be there, try waxing instead!
2. Smoke
One should never feel like they need to rely on any substances to boost their arousal. However, smoking weed can be a perfect way to reduce anxiety and help your body relax. This is especially helpful for males who experience erectile dysfunction and women who overthink too much during sex. Just remember to have lube easily accessible because marijuana can cause the horrific dryness known as "cotton mouth" or "cotton vagina."
3. Watch Something Visually Stimulating
For a lot of people, sexual arousal starts visually. Besides, it is directly correlated to the part of your brain that activates physical stimulation. There are quite a few ways to go about this whether that be looking at pictures of your mate, watching porn, or looking viewing a sexually charged music video. A personal favorite of mine is watching the sex scenes of my favorite erotic movies at some point before sex so I'm even more aroused from the beginning.
4. Sample The Goods
Sometimes it's reassuring to actually take a whiff of your own goods. If you want to be even more assured, have a taste. It's your own body, and it's important to know the quality of your juices before sharing them with someone else. Right?
5. Admire yourself in the Mirror
There's nothing better than feeling confident. Sometimes you really need to look at yourself, pick out the things that you like the most, and tell yourself how beautiful you are. I personally love to rub my entire body in coconut oil, look at every crevice of my body in the mirror and give myself a quick pep talk, saying "Who's that bitch? YOU are that bitch! Who's a bad bitch? YOU'RE a bad bitch!"
6. Stretch
Not only does this help with relaxation, but it specifically increases flexibility and limits the tension that hinders your sexual energy. In the long run, it'll impress your partner by all of the new positions you two can try now that you've increased your range of motion.
7. Eat aphrodisiacsÂ
There is a numerous amount of food that boosts libido such as salmon, dark chocolate, pomegranates, red wine, and honey. Each of these increases blood flow to the body during arousal which will make for some killer orgasms later.
