If You Are Not Ready For A Relationship, Sit Down And Stop

Sometimes, it takes patience to get what you want.

I am not going to sugarcoat it, being single sucks.

Some people might not think so, but I am telling you, a large percentage do. People yearn to find that one person to look forward to. Not expecting something so endearing or too magical (though sometimes relationship comes along with it) but you just want to have that one person you can talk to and miss.

Many people who are not ready for a relationship chose to jump into one with the sole purpose of having that “one.” You hate being alone, and it sucks but yet you would lower your standards and reach anything that is in front of you. You are willing to do what you usually not do just to be with someone and not alone. Sometimes, you don’t even know if you're yourself anymore.

You don’t even know if you are with this person because you like them or just the idea of them.

Another case is, you force yourself into a relationship even when you are so into another person. If the last relationship didn’t work out, and you still scroll through their social media looking up what they are up to and ponder on whether they have moved on or not already.

Move on. It is time to put the past in the past, and that does not mean forgetting that person but focusing more on yourself.

If you are too scared to be in a relationship, you don’t get a relationship. Don’t want to lose your independence? Don’t want to shave this winter and make sacrifices to look your best this time of the year? Don’t want to communicate on what is bothering you with your significant other when you fight? Still talk about your past relationship with someone that you are talking to? Not willing to be committed to one person?

Don’t get into a relationship.

It is selfish for people to be with someone just because they are lonely and want someone to be there. Lucky if that person doesn’t catch feeling but if they do, why would you hurt someone that would do anything for? Why do you want to hurt someone when all they want to do is to love you? Why do you want to waste someone’s time for that?

There are endless reasons for why you don’t want to be in a relationship, so why are you in one when you’re not entirely committed and invested in that person? Maybe you are emotionally unavailable but, hey, it’s time to heal if someone ever wrecks that idea of love.

When you are ready and not looking, without knowing what is coming that one relationship will come unexpectedly yet beautifully.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
