I'd Rather Get A Root Canal Than Shop For A Wedding Dress, There... I Said It

In an ideal world, I'd elope.

There is no doubt that weddings are expensive AF and involve a LOT of planning. I am not against getting married, but I'm just going to say ahead of time that I am not planning a "traditional" wedding.

Eloping is a rather tempting option, but I know several people would probably give me hell if I were to do that. I am totally fine with a courthouse wedding or being married by someone who is licensed and will not charge an arm and a leg.

I do not want to spend months or even years planning every single detail for a one-day event. Several components go into planning a wedding. I would go insane if I put myself through all of it. I am somewhat disorganized and hate dealing with phone calls and emails.

I would rather not deal with people getting upset because they were not on the invite list. Because I don't even want to deal with a guest list to begin with! Let alone sending invitations and waiting for responses. Not to mention, my entire extended family resides in Europe.

I hate clothes shopping, specifically bra shopping, so naturally, the idea of shopping for a wedding dress makes me want to get a root canal instead. I am not going to go through needing help doing typically simple tasks like using the bathroom while wearing a dress.

As much as I like buying shoes, I am not wearing high heels for an extended period of time. No shot. Give me a pair of Vans or Toms, and I will be just dandy.

I LOATHE being the center of attention, and extended human interaction drains the hell out of me. I would go from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde well before the end of the day and/or have an anxiety attack or two.

I could find several uses for money instead of planning a big wedding. I could put it toward a house, a retirement/savings account, a car, and even potential future children.

If I wanted, I could throw a reception of sorts months after the wedding date and save a ton of money.

To me, marriage is about a couple's commitment to each other, and that does not require a $30,000 wedding.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
