In cultures all around the world, pre-teens to teenagers are told to wait until they are married to have any sexual relations.

Plenty of young adults live by this and wait until they have met the right person that they want to spend the rest of their lives with to have sex.

Don't get me wrong -- if this is what you want to do, you should put your all into it and not be afraid to admit that you are staying abstinent until marriage. What I am saying is that instead of basing it off what your parents, friends, and religious leaders have told you, do it because you think it's what is best with you emotionally and physically.

Waiting until marriage to have sex is an archaic way of thinking.

It's another way of oppressing someone, especially women.

Women have been bullied into thinking that if they do have sex out of wedlock, they are automatically sluts and whores and shamed for expressing themselves and their feelings in a way they see fit.

Your body is your own body, and if you choose to have sex, you deserve to be allowed to do that without the fear of being pointed out as someone who is a bad person for being promiscuous. Society is constantly changing, and if we don't move along with it, we can be caught behind in a world which is not progressing.

In the Bible, it says, “But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.”

I think it is great to have a sturdy belief system, but you can't follow it blindly.

The bible was written in completely different time. A time without the knowledge that we have now. While it's nice having something to believe in, you can only take parts of the bible with a grain of salt. Just because at one point in time it was not acceptable to have sex outside of marriage, doesn't mean it is now. At one point in time, people believed slavery was okay, too.

Some may claim that sex is better when you are with the person you are married to because you are in love and meant to be together. While this may be true in some cases, sex is a biological act. While it can be better with someone you are emotionally invested in, it does not determine how good the actual sexual act is.

It just furthers your bond with another person, which can be a beautiful thing even if you do not end up being with that person for the rest of your life.

Overall, people should do what they want with their own bodies without being worried that it's not morally right. If you are educated in sexual intercourse and feel as though you are with a person you feel comfortable having sex with and you think the time is right for you, you shouldn't do it based on other peoples opinions.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
