To Every Tall Girl Out There, Don't Sell Your Dating Life Short By Worrying About His Height

Society has always shown girls that they should be shorter than the guy they are with.

Whether it meant to or not, the entertainment industry often reinforces this idea through its casting of characters in television, movies and more.

In today's dating world you often hear, "I can't date him, he's not taller than me. She's too tall."

Granted, most females are shorter than their male partners. It's just the way it works.

But to not date someone just because they are shorter than you, is shallow.

As a proud tall lady, I stand taller than most of my female- and some of my male- peers.

On average (for people born in 1996), men measure 5 feet 7.5 inches and women stand at 5 feet 3 inches.

I measure 5 feet 11.5 inches. I'm already four inches taller than the average male.

So by society's standards, my dating pool is limited to those guys 6 feet and taller. (And I'm VERY picky, so my dating pool shrinks from the size of an ocean to a puddle.)

Society says that I can't date a shorter guy, but I say why not.

It shouldn't matter how tall or short you are, and if you can't accept my height, then you're not the man for me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday.
