Everyone handles their relationships differently. Some people are all in, all the time. They will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about themselves. Others are more reclusive and don't open up about their feelings as easily. When you've been with someone for a year or more, you should know them pretty well. You've done life with them, and you know what makes them tick.

1. Pet peeves

You know that the sound of squeaking styrofoam makes them want to cry. They can't deal with the toilet paper roll going under instead of over. Slow drivers. Loud chewers. The sound of chalk on a chalkboard. People touching their food. The options are endless!

2. Favorite color

Knowing someone's favorite color can be a much bigger deal than you think. It can help give you insight to other things that they like! I will always remember that my boyfriend's favorite color is blue.

3. Favorite dipping sauces

Whether their sauce of choice is consistently ranch, or if they like to branch out, you always know what to throw in the bag when you pick up dinner.

4. Schedules

You may or may not know their schedule better than they do, since you are the one constantly working around it.

5. Food they HATE

You know if they absolutely cannot stand anything that has mint and chocolate together because it makes them gag. You also have picked up on foods that they will tolerate, but they really don't actually like to eat.

6. Strengths

You know the kinds of games they are good at. You know if they are a good writer, and if they couldn't write an A+ paper to save their life. You know if they're killer mathematicians or if they think that 2+2=5.

7. Weaknesses

You know their kryptonite. You might even be their kryptonite. Either way, you two have probably had some really deep conversations and you have a strong bond between you.

8. If they are a dog person or cat person

If they aren't a dog person, dump them.

9. Allergies

You probably know by now if they have any severe or mild allergies, and all the specifics about them.

10. What they want to do with their life

Whether they want to be a teacher, a rocket scientist, an engineer, or a nurse, you support their goals and will be there every step of the way.

10. Favorite restaurants and types of food

You know they'll choose Mexican food over all other food. They know that even thinking about Italian food makes your mouth water. You know that they don't really like sushi unless it's the kind that you can buy on campus, which doesn't sound very good to most people but it's his favorite sushi.

11. Their sense of humor

You cannot truly appreciate someone unless you get their sense of humor. You guys may not laugh at all the same things, but you don't think they are crazy for laughing. Most of the time, anyway.

12. Inside jokes

Since you spend so much time with each other, you have shared memories that other people won't understand. Some things can start off simply being ridiculous and seemingly irrelevant, but then years later someone mentions it and you both die laughing.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
