8 Pieces Of Advice From College Students That Will Have Your Crush Falling For You: Hook, Line, And Sinker

Spending time with your crush is great, but how do you plan on getting there? Often, you overthink what to do when interacting with your crush or even what to say.

Follow these eight rules, and you may win your crushes heart.

1. Be Direct

A common theme found in college dating is "playing games." Matt Bryant, freshman at East Carolina University (ECU) says "it's so high school playing hard to get. We all want something, just say it." Vulnerability is found to be very attractive, and just admitting your feelings for the person is much more efficient than leading them on just to fall back. When admitting your feelings to someone, be nonchalant about it. Don't make it seem like having feelings is a dramatic ordeal that is life or death. "You make it awkward when you're dramatic about having feelings, be cool," says Bryant.

2. Show Confidence

Confidence is sexy, for both parties. Anna Drage, who met her current boyfriend in college says that confidence shows you respect yourself and have standards. If you show that you are secure on yourself, then that will translate into the relationship you hope to have. D'Wayne Crawford, freshman football player at ECU says "You can spot a confident girl easy. She walks and acts differently." Show you have confidence by standing straight up, looking someone in the eyes when talking to them, and speaking clearly.

3. Find Common Interests

If you like someone, ask them about their interests. If you want to seem like you just so happen to show the same interests, then pay attention to what they talk about, if they wear anything routinely with a message, and what they may listen to. "You need to at least pretend like you like the same things until you really figure out what you do," says Bryant. If you begin to talk about the things that they find interesting, then you will instantly feel closer and you will have something to talk about.

4. Be Their Source of Motivation

This is particularly important if your crush is apart of some sort of sports team. Game day morning send them a "Good Luck" text message with an emoji that would remind them of you. Try not to go overboard with this and act like a groupie. "You can tell when a girl is being genuine. That's the girl you want to keep," says Crawford. Go to their games/meets and cheer them on! They may even see you out in the crowd.

As for things other than sports, encourage them to work their hardest academically. Check on that person in whatever class they are struggling with. Shayna Tucker, a freshman at ECU says, "I don't always share how I feel, I like it when a guy I'm talking to checks up on me." Whatever you can do to show that you care about this person, you want to do.

5. Notice the Small Things

Shayna, Anna, Matthew and others all agree that your crush will immediately know you pay close attention to them if you point out something small they have changed about themselves. If they've been working out and you notice some gains, mention that! If they got a hair cut or a new pair of shoes, let them know you like it. Anything you notice that is different about your crush, let them know that you recognize that difference.

6. Ask Them About Themselves

We live in a world full of narcissists, and whether they are narcissistic or not, everyone loves to talk about themselves. Ask your crush to tell you something about themselves no one would know or a cool story. "I hate at a job interview they ask you to 'tell me about yourself' but when a guy does it, I love it. I can go on and on," says Tucker. The least they can do is laugh and share an awkward moment of you guys trying to find something interesting about each other.

7. Show Off Your Sense of Humor

Share a few laughs and find what they see as humorous funny as well. "I can't have a boring girlfriend. She needs to laugh so I know she's happy about life," says Bryant. If you can, formulate an inside joke that you can occasionally bring up between just you too. This helps showcase a bit of exclusivity.

8. Keep Up Your Appearance

In order to attract someone, you think looks nice, keep yourself up. This doesn't mean you must look like a model, but at least look clean. Walk out in clothes that fit and aren't wrinkly or dirty. Show that you care about your outside appearance just as much as your inside. You can do this by keeping your breath fresh, keeping your hair clean, smelling good, cleaning your fingernails, etc. This lets your crush know that you are well kept and possibly responsible.

Following through with these tips can be tough, but remember to be brave. Bravery is appealing to just about anyone, and your confidence to take action should be enough to win your crush over.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
