My Boyfriend And I Have 'A No-Phones-At-The-Table' Rule, Because Our Love Doesn't Need Digital 'Likes'

Your relationship doesn't have to be approved by social media.

We all know those super cute couples who post semi-professional or just straight-up professional pictures together all of the time. They have all these cute candids and romantic shots to show you, whether you ask to see them or not. They are your couple goals and their everyday pictures could easily pass for engagement photos.

Then, you look at my boyfriend and me.

If you ask me to find a picture of my boyfriend for you, I'll most likely end up just going to his Instagram and showing you a picture from there because frankly, pretty much all of the pictures we have together are posted there.

My boyfriend and I don't take pictures often, and that's OK.

"Don't you want pictures to look back at in the future?"

"He never posts pictures of you, he must not want to show you off."

"Don't you want people to know you guys date?"

We hear those comments every once in a while, and at some points in my life, I have thought them to myself. The thing is, in my relationship taking pictures takes away from enjoying the moments at hand. When we are together, we don't want to be stuck behind our phones. We want to take things in together and experience what will later be a memory to the fullest.

Yeah, we will take the occasional quick Snapchat right before a meal or when spending a day on the couch watching football, but the rest of the time we spend giving our attention to each other.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with having thousands of pictures with your significant other, but I am saying that the time you spend with your person is worth more than the pictures you take with them.

Relationships are private. Documenting every breathing moment you spend with your S.O. and showing it to the world isn't private. We would rather filter what people do or don't know about us, keeping our relationship to ourselves as it should be.

You don't need approval or recognition from anyone else to make your relationship feel special or important.

The quality time you spend with your boyfriend or girlfriend is what matters most in a relationship.

Being with someone who wants to actively be in the moment and spend time with you is so much more rewarding than all the "couple goals" comments you guys will get sitting, waiting for people to like your Instagram posts. Keep showing your man or woman off, just remember to put your phone down and enjoy their company instead staring at your phone's screen.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
