1. Adam.

Adam attended the same campus as me and I was shocked, to say the least, to find out he also had a Tinder. With no hesitation I quickly right swiped Adam. And even more shocking was that I and him were a match. Seconds later Adam messaged me.

After messaging back and forth I decided to give Adam my number, mostly because this app sucked at notifying you and glitches up quite frequently. I and Adam talked for almost two months via Snapchat and text before even meeting up!

Finally, me and Adam found a day that worked best for us. My palms were sweating like crazy as I waited for him outside. This would be the first guy I ever met on Tinder. I knew he wasn’t a catfish or anything but it still terrified me.

We walked on campus for a little while and then we went to go have dinner. Everything went great. Adam walked me back to my dorm after our date and before he left I was bold and made the first move.

Long story short me and Adam dated for a few months but after many complications came about we ended things.

2. Brad.

Brad was really handsome and attended a campus a few miles from me. Brad had messaged me instantly and after a couple days of Snapchatting Brad wanted to meet.

This time it was different. Brad had just gotten off work and decided to come to my apartment instead of going out in public. Yikes, red flag!

He was really nice and we were watching Netflix for quite some time. All of a sudden Brad decided to become handsy. At the time I did not mind but after I and Brad met up the second time I decided he only had one intention with me and I decided to cut it off.

Until this day Brad likes to occasionally messages me in hopes that we can meet again.

3. Chase.

Chase was beyond out of my league. Not even kidding. To make me even more surprised was that Chase had super liked me!

He had to be a catfish I couldn’t believe it. Minutes after matching Chase messaged me, followed me on Instagram and got my Snapchat from my bio.

Chase was very charming which made me think something had to be off. A month after speaking to Chase he drove down to meet me. Chase was even more handsome in person.

I wouldn’t say I was crazy, okay maybe a tad bit, when I allowed Chase to stay the night before his hour drive back home. One thing led to another and me and Chase hooked up.

Chase soon became a little possessive of me. He didn’t like me hanging out with my girlfriends or seeing other guys on my Snapchat story. We weren’t even dating! He was wild. Chase asked me to be his girlfriend but I declined because I didn’t think we were a good match.

Three days after asking me out Chase got a new girlfriend.

4. Dylan.

Dylan was odd. He seemed like a great guy with the way he used his words. I and Dylan messaged one another for three months before meeting. Dylan took me on a date which seemed endless.

I wasn’t clicking with Dylan at all. His ego was higher than high. The whole time on the date I wanted to go home. It seemed almost impossible to get Ethan to go home after dropping me off at home.

The next day Dylan asked me to promote him on social media.

5. Ethan.

Ethan was the definition of Southern hospitality. Ethan met me when I was sick as a dog and drove in the snow in order to do so. We stayed in and watched movies considering there was not much we could do.

He had been a gentleman about everything and I blushed because he was beyond handsome. Truth be told Ethan and I were opposites for the most part. Yet there was something about that Southern Charm that got me.

Ethan and I still speak and who knows maybe our two lanes will merge into one.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
